Terms of Service
Effective date:
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of codealchemy.dev (the "Site") and the utilities published there (collectively, the "Service"). They are a contract between you and the operator of the Site. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms; the current version is always the copy posted here with the effective date shown above.
1. Definitions
"Content" means any text, code, configuration, tokens, images, or other material you paste, upload references to, or generate while using the Service.
"AI Features" means functionality where your input is sent to a machine-learning model operated by a third party.
"Third-Party Services" means analytics vendors, advertising networks, hosting and delivery providers, design platforms you connect, AI hosts, and any other external system involved when you use the Service.
2. Eligibility and children
You represent that you are old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least the greater of (a) eighteen years of age or (b) the age required by your jurisdiction to use developer tooling without parental consent.
The Service is not aimed at children under thirteen (or sixteen where EU rules set a higher bar for certain online services). Do not use the Service if you do not meet the age requirement.
3. What the Service provides
CodeAlchemy publishes free, mostly client-side utilities for working with code and design artifacts: format converters, generators, palette helpers, and related documentation.
Some actions only work if what you are working with is sent over the network when you start them. Those paths are optional in the sense that you choose to use that part of the product.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." Availability, latency, and output quality can change without notice. Features may be modified, limited, or removed.
4. Accounts
There is no registration system on the Site as part of the Service described here. Do not attempt to make us maintain an account for you by sending personal identifiers through unrelated channels; we do not operate a support inbox on-domain for these Terms.
Technical measures to reduce abuse may apply even without accounts.
5. Acceptable use
You may use the Service for lawful professional or personal purposes. You agree not to:
• Violate applicable law or third-party rights.
• Paste or generate content whose primary purpose is malware distribution, credential theft, harassment, or non-consensual surveillance.
• Attempt to scrape, crawl, or overload the Service beyond what a normal human would do with a browser, including trying to defeat protective checks or consent flows.
• Reverse engineer the Service except where mandatory law allows interoperability.
• Misuse access tokens, keys, or other secrets you control; you remain responsible for leakage caused by your device or network.
• Use AI Features in ways that break the rules of the AI vendor involved.
• Misrepresent ad interactions or manipulate rewarded formats fraudulently.
We may block abusive traffic at network or application layers.
6. AI Features — extra rules
AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or unsafe even when it looks confident. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and adapting anything produced before you rely on it in production systems.
Prompts you submit may be processed outside your device by third-party AI vendors under their own terms. Do not submit regulated health data, government secrets, or credentials you cannot afford to expose.
Reasonable use limits may apply so a free site stays sustainable.
7. Intellectual property
We retain rights to the CodeAlchemy name, branding, layout, and original prose on the Site. Open-source dependencies remain under their upstream licenses as stated in the repository.
Subject to the limitations in these Terms, you keep rights to Content you supply. We do not claim ownership of your input or of generated conversion output solely because it passed through the Service.
8. Third-party services and ads
The Service embeds or loads Third-Party Services for analytics, hosting, advertising, connected design workflows, and AI. Your relationship with each vendor is also governed by that vendor's terms.
We do not endorse every advertisement that renders. Click ads at your own judgment.
9. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION, THAT OUTPUTS WILL BE CORRECT, OR THAT THE SERVICE IS FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS IN THIRD-PARTY SCRIPTS.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN DISCLAIMERS; IN THOSE CASES, DISCLAIMERS APPLY ONLY TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE OPERATOR OF THE SITE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
IN ANY EVENT, AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR DIRECT DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE IN A TWELVE-MONTH PERIOD IS CAPPED AT THE LOWEST AMOUNT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW FOR A FREE, PUBLIC TOOL, UNLESS A HIGHER NON-WAIVABLE FLOOR APPLIES WHERE YOU LIVE.
THE LIMITATIONS ABOVE DO NOT APPLY WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW, INCLUDING LIABILITY FOR GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT TO THE EXTENT SUCH EXCEPTIONS ARE MANDATORY.
11. Sensitive and regulated data
Do not use the Service as a primary repository for secrets, private keys, patient information, legally privileged material, or export-controlled technical data unless your compliance team explicitly approves that workflow.
Anything you paste into a browser tab may be exposed by extensions, screen recorders, or shoulder surfing. Features that send data over the network add exposure on top of that risk.
12. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify the Site operator against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your Content, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct where not waivable.
13. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may change features, limits, vendors, or these Terms. Material changes to the Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date when the meaning changes.
Continued use after the updated effective date constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, stop using the Service.
14. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy posted on the Site, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede prior oral or written understandings on the same subject.
15. Governing law and consumers
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would send the dispute to another body of law, except that mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence remain unaffected where they apply to you as an individual.
Venue for disputes that are not subject to mandatory consumer court rules shall be determined under EU procedural law applicable to the operator's establishment, unless a different venue is required for consumers in your country.
There is no obligation on this page to list a private email inbox; official notices for regulatory matters should follow channels prescribed by applicable law outside this Site.
